A meeting of minds

Sometimes the best way to get an invitation to somebodies house is to just invite yourself.

Ms Narioka and myself plotted and then garnered ourselves an 'invitation' to visit that Bianca girl who makes stuff. Not such a big trip now that she is a Victorian again.

We stayed up late talking while we stitched.

There was a missing member to the quartet - her nose is in a book as she studies hard but next time...whoa nelly, it'll be a SIT reunion!

Another visit to RCH for Master Harvey and his gammy hip.

He had an ultrasound with the brace on and then with it off and it's doing really, really well.

He's even allowed time off for good behaviour so he had his first bath in four weeks. He was quite swimmy once he realised he could be.

Back to the doctor in 5 weeks so fingers crossed for lots more growing which will make this process lots quicker for Harvs.

Quiet night in tonight. Couch, chocolate and trashy tv.

De-Funked

The weather has been brilliant for these guys.

 Just to the right is their 'lake' it could also be known as a rather large pothole in my driveway but since they like to paddle in it....Lake Noble it is.

That's dust. Big, bad, hairy (cat and me), half a pecan, a paperclip and dirt kind of dust.

Amazing what you can find under your couch. I had a good clean up today as a means of de-funking and....

It worked!

I got to sewing straight after I *finished.

This is my first completed flower for Hexed 2010 - a little challenge a few ladies are playing in.

Amazing what a couple of decent sleep-ins, some chocolate and couch time can do.

I'm a new woman.

* 'finished' meaning I swept and vac'd most of the house. That's it. It's not like it's spring yet. Plus I didn't want to keel over from all the effort. I needed energy to Hex.

Puzzled

When you live somewhere cold you need to find inside activities.

A 1500 piece puzzle was always going to take a while. Why oh why I decided to use my large cutting mat as the backing board is a question I've been asking myself!

What I didn't know is that Mr CP is a puzzle monster. He got this weird look in his eyes and couldn't seem to walk away...the last two mornings he got up early just for some puzzle time.

The first night I suggested we puzzle he admitted he could happily (and addictively) stay up all night just to do it. Freak.

I shouldn't support an addict but....

This is the next one!

Less pieces but a bit of trick because you don't get the actual picture. You have to figure out what the man at the front can see. This is sure to cause more red eye moments.

As for sewing...this is what I have done for my little Hexalong. I'm liking how it is looking but I need to get my skates on and get more sewing done.

I'm also working on a secret project but that's a secret.....

Sadly I have spending time doing this.

Apparently it's something you are supposed to do. Grrrr I gotta win lotto and get a maid. I'd be nice to her. Or him. Might even make them a quilt. Just as long as they cleaned so I don't have too.

Why?

Why do shit things happen to good people?

Work rang today to tell me about the husband of a lady at work. A lovely lady with three teenage kids and a husband. A nice, hard working, blue collar country family.

Yesterday her husband had an aneurysm while he was working.
Today she is turning off his life support.

Who do shit things happen to good people?

We all experience death. We all face hardships of one kind or another but sometimes...it's just not fair.

I'm looking forward to hugging Mr CP just a little bit tighter when I get home from work tonight. I'm going to be more conscious of letting people know how much I care for and appreciate them.

I'll start with you bloggers - you rock my socks and the friends I have made through blogging are changing my life for the better. You know who you are. Thanks xx Aunts you are all inspiring!

 

We are staying in today. Me and the four legged one. Unfortunately I have to venture out later to go to work but I won't be leaving the warmth here until the last minute. One of us has been honouring her God. I am assuming she is thanking him/her for all of the warmth....

And back to the more of the silent, eyes closed 'prayer'.

I'm going to spend the arvo working on this and eating cake.

That should lift my spirits a little.

A hex on me!

I'm sure at some stage I said that I was going to get whole lot of UFO's finished this year...maybe I meant next year because I seem to be starting something new. Actually two somethings.

A little hexy challenge is going on between a few ladies. Still sorting out the details but I've made a start anyway. I'm planning an off white, pink and green, shabby styles...something. I think it'll be another quilt. But who knows?

And these? Well these are the centres for a 1930's quilt I am planning.

I collected A LOT of 1930's fabrics when I decided I was going to do the flowers and I am never going to use all that I have in one quilt so....I'm planning at least two more :o) 

I went on a quick jaunt to Daylesford today and visited the Spa Quilters Quilt Show. It was really nice with lots of fabulous quilts, bags and wall hangings. The group seems to have a lot of different influences meaning there was a diverse range of patchy, quilty styles.  

Time for tea...and another sip of red.

Perfect accompaniment to the roaring fire.

Wood she or wood'ent she?

Soooo who wants to come over for a bit of lumberjack work?

Yep, I gotta stack all of that.....

But it is worth it, as it creates a warm house that invites a bit of this.

'this' being - so warm and sleepy it makes your head floppy.

Did you think I'd forgotten that this little blog is about crafting. I surely hope not because some of it does happen here. Sometimes.

I bought some pre-cut hex papers from lovely this lady. Before I start on those I am cutting out a heap more petals for the flower blocks.

I've also basted the purple wonder. I have bruises on my knees to prove it. I just didn't think you'd need to see the knobby knees. The really are quite knobular!

An update on the new money receptacle...I counted it up and it came to $175.00!

Not bad at all. So people (sew people?), start throwing your spare change into something, somewhere and don't touch it till you need it.

I'm putting this lot in my high interest account. That's going to be a whole lot of American flavoured FQ's or a ticket to Disneyland.
