Why?

Why do shit things happen to good people?

Work rang today to tell me about the husband of a lady at work. A lovely lady with three teenage kids and a husband. A nice, hard working, blue collar country family.

Yesterday her husband had an aneurysm while he was working.
Today she is turning off his life support.

Who do shit things happen to good people?

We all experience death. We all face hardships of one kind or another but sometimes...it's just not fair.

I'm looking forward to hugging Mr CP just a little bit tighter when I get home from work tonight. I'm going to be more conscious of letting people know how much I care for and appreciate them.

I'll start with you bloggers - you rock my socks and the friends I have made through blogging are changing my life for the better. You know who you are. Thanks xx Aunts you are all inspiring!

We are staying in today. Me and the four legged one. Unfortunately I have to venture out later to go to work but I won't be leaving the warmth here until the last minute. One of us has been honouring her God. I am assuming she is thanking him/her for all of the warmth....
And back to the more of the silent, eyes closed 'prayer'.
I'm going to spend the arvo working on this and eating cake.
That should lift my spirits a little.

Take care peeps,
Ab x

  2. I'm with you about life Ab, it can really be shit sometimes for no apparent reason. I know with everything that has been happening with our friends lately I have learnt to be thankful for the wonderful friends I have and appreciate each day for what it is. Thanks for being you and be careful at work.

  4. You're so right, sometimes life stinks! The only good(?) that comes out of something like this is that it maybe makes us all appreciate the good things a bit more.

  9. How distressing for everyone, though given the choice I think we would all hope our own passing would be quick and painless. Make sure there's enough cake to cheer everyone up!

  10. Similar thing happened to a good friend of ours. The dad had back pain for three days then died while his wife was driving him to the ER. He was only 46 and had two teenage boys. Just another reminder that life can be short and we ought to make the most of it every day.

  15. Hi Lovely...I don't have any philosophical words for you...I see this stuff nearly daily, I dont have any anwers. I do have really long arms (for a hug), a slightly above average skill at making banana + 'surpise' loaf, excellent ears for listening, an excellent kettle + tea mugs...A warm fire to chat by and a vault like ability to store confidential conversations. Be kind to your self today. And I think your are right o fell like you should say to people what youd like them to know - now whilst you can say it your way. Peta

  16. It must be the week for it. A dad of one of the girls in Charlotte's class died from a heart attack this week. The mum is Spanish, hardly speaks any English and can't drive. Everyone is rallying around to support them which is great.

  20. Terrible. My close work friend died that way - it was heartbreaking, and still is in some ways, years on. It's good to get a reality check - there's nothing better than love and life. Nic
