I have read a few Geraldine Brooks novels this year, years ago I read 'Year of Wonders' and loved it- she does used language appropriate to the time though, so that can do your head in abit- but I am in to it. In some ways I spose it's historical fiction that others have talked about because she takes an historical bit of information and creates a story around it. I agree with Cass re: To Kill a Mockingbird. Mitch Albom- have you read any of his? Tuesdays with Morrie, 5 people you meet in Heaven, Maggie Alderson and Cecilia Ahern for ChickLit. I am about to read 'The Book Thief' and want to read the Poisonwood bible. I love talking about books! Hope you are going well Ab xxTanyahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11348847780442947633noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-457031276761075662.post-4293288126687135442011-10-07T07:42:52.748+11:002011-10-07T07:42:52.748+11:00I used to only buy, so I wouldn't have to worr...I used to only buy, so I wouldn't have to worry about due dates. But, now I'm at our neighborhood library at least 3 times per week (all four of us borrow our books, movies and audio books) and I have only purchased a cookbook in probably the last 3 years.

Lately, I like easy reads, like the Hunger Games series and ones by Sue Grafton and Jodi Picoult. I tend to stop abruptly and need to start up again easily (I go to a lot of my kids' sports' practices and games/meets).Michellenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-457031276761075662.post-82545190940576514912011-10-07T04:25:00.634+11:002011-10-07T04:25:00.634+11:00I love historical fiction, and lately I've bee...I love historical fiction, and lately I've been reading a lot of Amish fiction. I read for entertainment, so nothing too heavy here, I love the authors you've listed, but also love Michael Connolly (detective/crime), Kathy Reichs (forensics), Dick Francis, David Baldacci, Julian Stockwin and several others I can't call to mind at the moment. I used to go to the library a lot, but have now got the Kindle app on my iPad and am working my way through the many free books available (I also enjoy classics by Bronte, etc). I've also been sucked into buying a few books, oh well, at least I do read things more than once.sewalihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16897986960733738753noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-457031276761075662.post-84032474104039259552011-10-06T16:40:11.461+11:002011-10-06T16:40:11.461+11:00I like all of the above mentioned authors, also a ...I like all of the above mentioned authors, also a good murder/medical/forensic story. I very rarely buy a book, the library has everything and I usually borrow about 6books a fortnight, I also do not read them twice, if I get one and realize I have read it before I put it away, even if I can't remember what happened. Like cass my all time favourite is To Kill A Mockingbird
and yes I have read it twice!sandrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04236743312692179434noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-457031276761075662.post-25133115179356034452011-10-06T16:28:52.250+11:002011-10-06T16:28:52.250+11:00I love crime books but my all time favorite book a...I love crime books but my all time favorite book and one I have re-read many times is To Kill a Mockingbird. I used...Can't resist answering this one Abbe...
I used to read Historical Drama but after a lot (cough, cough) of years they all blur to the same, I'm not really into the chick lit type. I've read all of Jodie Picoult, all of Maeve Binchy, all of Monica McInerney and on and on..! Now, I love a good thriller, medical, forensic or just plain detective, give me a good old blood and guts story and I can sleep the night away....sort of!!
Right now though I'm reading The Land of a Thousand Suns again, just because I finished a book and that one was on the top of a pile. I have to admit to buying all of my books and I download a huge amount to listen to while I'm sewing, driving etc...
I'm thinking I might just need to have a Kindle for Christmas... :o) think how many I could have then..?
Lizzie
xxxLizhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14855448570887064244noreply@blogger.com
